Beer Quarry Caves
Caves in East Devon
The caves are situated in Beer. They are open from 6 April to September. The caves create a vast complex of man-made caverns made by centuries of quarrying Beer Stone.
Beer stone is ideal for fine detail carvings, but hardens when exposed to the air.
In the Roman section of the caves, there is a small museum with pieces of carved Beer stone, tools, ancient documents and photographs.
