The North Devon Surf School is one of the top surfing schools in the UK. Based at Westward Ho! beach (Barnstaple), the School offers surfing lessons, courses and equipment hire. You'll be offered half-day lessons during which you'll have an introduction to the basics of surfing, water safety, ocean conditions, catching & riding waves. You can also choose a full-day session where you'll get some extra coaching to improve ability levels.

One and a half days lessons are also available. Providing an introduction to the basics of surfing, with extra coaching on technique, the basics of turning and the chance to try out some different boards. If you like, you can choose two full days courses where you'll have an introduction to the basics of surfing, leading on to turning, basic manoeuvres and the chance to try out a range of different boards. During the two and a half day course, which is the most popular course, everything you need to know how to become a safe, competent surfer will be covered.
