How Does Your Knitting Grow?
The time has come to unveil our exciting show garden! The World’s first ever life-sized knitted garden - everything in the garden has been lovingly knitted or crocheted by members of the public over the past year. This unique creation, includes everything you would find in the garden from a deckchair to a vegetable plot, from a fish pond with frogs to a picnic laid out on a rug! Our show-stopping garden is certainly a riot of colour with hand-worked flowering blooms, bumble bees buzzing around a hive, spider in its web and ladybird scuttling over a plant pot. There is so much to excite and inspire in the garden, that a visit is simply a must!
Sponsored by the BHKC and Simply Knitting magazine.
Elements in Nature
An exciting and very different project - the second organized by the Quilters Guild and the Nature in Art Gallery, Gloucestershire. A total of 21 quilts were produced which were then hung outside in the gardens - no matter what the weather - for a duration of six weeks. Quilters rose to the challenge and produced pieces that would be affected by whatever the elements could throw at them. Some artists broke away from the traditional flat rectangular quilt and embraced the theme to design specialist quilts. Now here’s your chance to view a selection of the weathered quilts in all their glory!
Poetry in Stitches
ICHF are delighted to be able to present the National Needlework Archive’s exhibition ‘Poetry in Stitches’. There are over 100 wonderful pieces of textile art on show in this vibrant and dynamic display - all inspired by beautiful poems. Both amateur and professional textile artists took part in the project, ranging in age from 5 to 95. This is one of the last chances to see the exhibition as a whole, as the pieces are soon to be individually displayed in public waiting rooms around the country.
Magical World of Crafts and Gifts for Christmas and the Home!
A selection of our talented craft workers from our ‘Crafts Alive’ shows will be exhibiting an array of handcrafted gifts. These exquisite pieces of craftwork offer you a unique buying opportunity for Christmas and the chance to browse through some of the finest quality handcrafted gifts you will find anywhere. Take this perfect opportunity to find presents for all those hard to buy for friends and family.
Once again we are giving you the opportunity to take time out and learn or improve your hand-knitting techniques in our Knit ‘n’ Natter area where experts will be on hand to give help, assistance and inspiration for you to work with different yarns and develop new and interesting designs and ideas.
