Mencap is calling on people from Devon to step up to the starting line at this year’s BUPA Great North Run. Now in its 27th year, the Great North Run has grown in popularity and demand for places is high.
Stephen Smith, Events Fundraising Assistant, said: “We would love you to join us on Sunday September 30 to tackle the 13.1 mile route from Newcastle to South Shields. By putting on the Mencap vest you will be helping us to provide support to over 1.5 million people in the UK with a learning disability.
“Mencap will provide you with all the fundraising support and training advice you will need and a running vest. All we ask in return is that you pay a £25 deposit and raise a minimum of £350 in sponsorship. Also, if you already have a place, maybe you would consider running for Mencap?”
The money raised will help Mencap to carry on supporting people with a learning disability and their families and carers in the UK. To find out more about the Bupa Great North Run and other events you can take part in for Mencap, call the events hotline on 0845 977 7779 or email events@mencap.org.uk or you can register online at www.mencap.org.uk/events.
