VOLUNTEERS are adding the final splash of colour to planters, window boxes and hanging baskets at Exmouth, ready for the Britain in Bloom competition.
Judges from the Royal Horticultural Society are scheduled to arrive in the resort on Thursday to inspect floral displays, parks and gardens.
Work has been carried out by volunteers from the Exmouth in Bloom committee and the Exmouth Tidy Group to spruce up the town.
Staff with East Devon District Council’s StreetScene have also been hard at work on public areas and flowerbeds.
Exmouth In Bloom chairwoman Pat Graham said: “This year, in particular, we have been working extremely hard. Not only have we been defending the title for the St Bridget Cup in the South West In Bloom competition, but this is the first time we have been asked to represent the South West in the national final of Britain in Bloom which we are all very excited about.”
The judges will spend three hours touring Exmouth, including Brixington, Withycombe and parts of Littleham.
Mrs Graham added: “I would like to ask everyone to help where possible, including local businesses.
“Even something small, like removing weeds or litter from outside properties or business premises, can make a world of difference.”
