500 Musicians Gear Up For Brass Band Festival

OVER 500 musicians are expected to descend on Exmouth in preparation for this year’s Brass Band Festival.
The contest, on Saturday, September 6, has attracted 15 percussion and brass bands from across the South West.
The local competing bands will be Lympstone South West Telecoms and Sidmouth Town.
Each band will compete in the Exmouth Pavilion for the Exmouth Town Council Challenge Trophy, presenting a 25-minute programme of own-choice music to adjudicator Dennis Wilby.
The festival will play the best in brass bands to people inside the venue and at the Pavilion Gardens.
There will also be a cup for overall entertainment, trophies for best soloist, best trombone section, best percussion section, highest placed band in recognised section and highest placed un-graded band.
The day’s events start at 10am, concluding with the results and presentation ceremony at 7pm.
The rest of the bands playing are Appledore Silver, Bideford Town, Brixham Town, Camelford Town, Hails Town, Pendennis Brass Falmouth, Phoenix Brass, Soundhouse Brass, South Molton Town, St Breward Silver, Tiverton Town, Torrington Silver, Uttoxeter Town Brass.
